Helping to launch Maths Week 2012 with Education Minister John O’Dowd, are Strandtown PS primary seven pupils (from left) Jane McCrossan, Joe Hall, Eoin Gill (Maths Week Ireland) and Stephen Wright. The annual festival kicks off on 13th October and features a range of activities and presentations aimed at making maths fun and exciting for both children and adults. Hosting events during Maths Week 2012 are partners, Stranmillis University College, the University of Ulster, Queen’s University Belfast, W5 and Armagh Planetarium. The week culminates in Maths in the City on Saturday 20th October when Belfast city centre will buzz with national and internationally renowned mathematicians entertaining the pubic with mazes, maths magic, puzzles and card tricks.
