Maths in Nature

Exploring the wonders of maths in the world around us. Delve into the deep blue and uncover the mysteries that shells and fish can hold! The National Sea Life Centre in Bray is amazing place to discover the wonder of maths. Maths truly is all around us and to emphasise this the Sea Life Centre will be holding some special workshops during Maths Week to explore the mystery of maths in nature. In Sea Life there are several majestic examples of symmetry, radial symmetry and fractals to be seen on your tour of the centre. In the classroom students can then be given specimens to investigate how the Fibonnacci sequence and many other mysteries of maths can occur in nature.
