You can help your child develop an interest in Maths by helping with homework and trying to keep the atmosphere postitive towards Maths within the home. Secondary school students begin to become frustrated with Maths when the pressure of exams are placed on them - not just state exams, but also Christmas and Summer exams. They will learn from you about how you feel about maths. If you did not enjoy maths at school, you might give your child some negative messages about maths without meaning to.

The aim of this drop in session is to gauge interest from parents who might be interested in forming a help group who, with the guidance of a maths teacher, can learn the skills and techniques needed to help children with Maths homework.

The level of maths required is not relevant...what is important is the level of interest a parent has in helping his/her child with homework.
